Normalizing With AudioGrabber
You might be asking yourself, what the heck is "normalizing", and why do we have to do it? The answers to this are quite simple to understand. So pay attention and you won't have any problems. When we talk about normalizing audio, we are simply saying to make it louder. Why do we do it? Because sometimes we want to turn our speakers way up and really be able to feel the movie ;-) Other reasons could be, that when we encode audio to Mp3 or WMA some of the quality is lost, and also some of the natural volume. We do this simply to ensure a higher quality movie.
Now that you know what it is, we might as well move along to how you are going to do it. If you are at all involved in making backup copies of audio CD's, than you should be familiar with the great utility called "AudioGrabber". It is a free tool developed by Xing Technology. Why would we use a CD ripper for DivX stuff? Because AudioGrabber has a great normalization tool built right in. That's why.
The first thing you need to do is download AudioGrabber from my software section, and get it installed. The actual process of normalizing involves only 4 steps.
1. Open AudioGrabber.
2. Go to FILE>NORMALIZE
3. Find the wave file that you want normalized.
4. Click OK.
When it is done, your wave file will be louder and more clear. That was easy. Wasn't it?
